The Project to Abolish Child Labor in India in 2013

2013/10/01

At the cotton fields in Andhra Pradesh, India, children suffer from hazardous agrichemicals and child labor. JTU supports ACE, non-profit organization, to release children from the dangers and ensure access to education for them.

It is the 4th and final year since the project was launched. In the conducting village, we have witnessed success in children’s enrollment, better life of the villagers and improving sustainability. For example, almost all the girls went to school and repaired school toilets and facilities. There were other activities carried out such as job trainings for girls to be independent in the future and support parents to gain incomes. For the rest of this year, they will empower the villagers and make the village free from child labor so that it will not go back to the previous situation full of child labor after the project is over.

With the plenty of the achievement and lessons they gained, the project will be spreaded to neighbor areas to support more children.
